white residence | living room:
The living room of this home in Marina Del Rey was long and narrow. There are French doors along one side of the room and a concrete fireplace at the furthest end. The floors were stone, the walls white and the ceilings high. The room cried out for warmth and intimacy.
The solution had to be in creating conversation areas and an inviting and a warm and intimate atmosphere. First I painted the cold stone fireplace with a faux texture to give it warmth and age. I created two seating areas, an intimate space with classic Mies Van Der Rohe Barcelona chairs and a Barcelona chaise, closer to the fireplace, and a sofa and chairs along the back wall under a colorful contemporary painting by a local artist. Art is always a good solution to warm up a space. The Tibetan rugs further define the two seating areas.
The mix of contemporary touches and transitional furniture with dark warm woods helped us successfully achieve the look and feel that the clients required; warmth, comfort, sophistication and elegance.
white residence | dining room:
A large table defines the dining room, accented with an abstract red oil painting and a large stainless steel bamboo mirror.
white residence | family room:
A luscious leather sectional creates a seating area around the TV but does not block off the kitchen, letting the cook be part of the scene. I designed an armoire to store audio equipment, cd's, dvd's books, children's games, books and magazines. Keeping with the flow from the Living Room, another Tibetan rug creates warmth and coziness. Beautiful pillows accent the sofa and bring color into the room.
white residence | master bedroom:
A four-poster iron bed is the central focus of the Master Bedroom. The White’s asked us to create a sophisticated yet comfortable place in the bedroom where they could sit with each other watch TV, or just relax. Another custom-built storage armoire sits in one of the alcoves that flank the fireplace. Roman shades and beautiful linen drapes finish off the room, creating a sense of intimacy as well as giving the clients complete privacy.

White Residence
Marina Del Rey Residence
The White's were a newly married couple and had just bought this beautiful home in the Marina. They knew they needed an interior and went to the ASID website to help them find the right one. After a few meetings we both know we had connected. Their criteria for their new home was that it be comfortable for the 2 of them, have a capacity for entertaining on a small and grand scale, and be able to accommodate a growing family in the near future. We were successful on all levels, achieving all the goals and creating a wonderful home and living environment for the White’s who are now the proud parents of two darling little girls and a golden retriever named “Daisy”.
